The JMT VS 4006 is a heavy-duty, hydraulic variable rake guillotine shear
designed for precise, low-distortion metal cutting in high-volume fabrication
shops. Engineered by JMT (Jorgenson Machine Tools), this machine leverages an
automated CNC controller to optimize cutting parameters seamlessly based on
material profiles
Core Specifications
The fundamental operational capabilities of the VS 4006 system include:
Specification
Max Cutting Length 4,100 mm (13.4 ft)
Max Cutting Thickness 6 mm (1/4" Mild Steel)
Backgauge Range 1,000 mm (39" Ball Screw)
Backgauge Travel Speed 200 mm/s
Main Motor Power 15 kW (Approx. 20 HP)
Hydraulic Tank Capacity 200 Liters
Key System Features
1. Variable Rake CNC Design
Unlike fixed-angle swing beam shears, the variable rake system allows the CNC
controller to adjust the blade angle automatically (typically up to 2.3)
based on material thickness. This flexibility significantly reduces material
twist, camber, and edge distortion when cutting thin strip segments.
2. Fully Automated CNC Adjustment
The unit is commonly equipped with a user-friendly touch screen control unit
(such as the D-Touch 7 or Cybelec systems). When an operator inputs the
material type and thickness, the CNC automatically adjusts:
Blade clearance gap
Rake/cutting angle
Stroke length (shortens the stroke for narrow sheets to increase cuts per
minute)
3. Material Handling & Support
Hold-down Cylinders: Powerful, automatically pressure-adjusted hydraulic hold-
downs firmly clamp the plate before the blade cuts, preventing material
slippage.
Transfer Table: The machine bed incorporates integrated ball transfers,
allowing smooth movement of heavy plates without scratching.
Squaring & Support Arms: Standard configuration includes a 59" squaring arm
alongside T-slotted front support arms for highly precise alignment.
